Belgians started to give more money to charity

100euro

The King Boudewijn Foundation (KBF) and think tank Itinera published the Philanthropy Index every three years. According to it in 2016 Belgians and people having Residence permit in Belgium gave more money to charity than ever before.
Nearly two out of three Belgians gave an average of €165 to charities in 2016, writes De Standaard.
The results of the index come from a telephone survey of more than 1,000 Belgians.
Compared to 2013, a clear positive trend could be seen, showing that 80% of Belgians (73% in 2013) believe that a donation contributes to a better world, and 54% (45% in 2013) even see it as a moral duty.
The most popular charities in Belgium support health and medical research, humanitarian and development aid, poverty alleviation and social justice.
