Brussels Airlines unveils Magritte plane

Brussels Airlines today adds a second Belgian art-themed aircraft to its fleet. In addition to its Tintin plane, introduced a year ago, the airline’s most recent masterpiece features the work of the Belgian surrealist artist René Magritte, writes Het Nieuwsblad.

The freshly painted aircraft was unveiled on Monday during a celebration in the Brussels Airlines maintenance hangar at Brussels Airport. Painted on the outside are a portrait of the artist himself, and his iconic silhoutte of a dove filled with a cloudy blue sky, a theme that continues inside the aircraft.
The Magritte-inspired Airbus A320 will be used to serve destinations across Europe for the next six years, starting today with its first destination, the Spanish capital Madrid.
“As a Belgian airline, we are not only tasked with bringing people to their destination, but we also have a duty to spread the image of Belgium,” said Brussels Airlines president Étienne Davignon.
