Free wifi network of the Brussels-Capital Region with a new name: wifi.brussels is being completely upgraded. The network will continue to expand until it includes all of the Brussels metro stations and will become more user-friendly, reports Bruzz.
The Brussels wifi network was created in 2006 and had the name Urbizone. “New name: Wifi.brussels will be easier and more recognisable,” explains state secretary for IT and digitalisation Bianca Debaets.
The new and improved network will include some interesting new features, such as automatic recognition, so that users will only need to log in once.
The public wifi network currently has 66 hotspots across the Region, and its expansion will accelerate in the coming years, promises Debaets. “By next year, the wifi network will also be available in all 59 of the Brussels metro stations”.
