The US airline Delta Air Lines is set to resume nonstop commercial flights between Brussels Airport and Atlanta Hartsfield, the world’s largest airport, from the end of March 2017. The route was scrapped in early April following the March terror attacks in Belgium.
From 26 March, 2017, Delta Airlines will again fly daily between Brussels and Atlanta, the only direct connection between the Belgian capital and the capital of the eastern US state of Georgia. Delta’s announcement so far only concerns the summer of 2017.
“As Brussels Airport transitions all airlines back to the main check-in area, we are pleased to confirm we will reinstate our Atlanta service from next summer,” said Dwight James, Delta’s Senior Vice President, trans-Atlantic. “It has been a difficult few months for the local community but we remain committed to Belgium and showing our support by operating two daily flights, which will benefit both the travelling public and also the local economy.”
